Visiting and joining some thousands of Flower H’mong peoples at the most famous Sunday market in Lao Cai Province, easy walking to explore tribal villages scattering around the stunning valleys of Sapa, this is the most wanted trip for 3 days experiences of tribal culture discovery. This trip can be revised for Saturday departure from Hanoi.
Itinerary
Night 1 (Thursday Night) Take the overnight train from Hanoi to Lao Cai
Please, be ready at your hotel lobby at 20.00 for a short transfer to Hanoi railways station for taking the overnight train (first class 4 beds cabin with air-condition) which arrive in Lao Cai city, near the Chinese border next morning.

Day 1 (Friday) Sapa Town’s Highlights // Ta Phin Village
Meet your Sapa guide and driver upon your arrival to Lao Cai Station and transfer uphill the Hoang Lien Son mountains to Sapa with some stop for over viewing of stunning valleys and terraced rice fields along the way.
After Breakfast your guide will show you around for a brief introduction of this charming town. At the market, ethnic minority people of different groups wearing their traditional costumes made by themselves comes every day selling local products includes vegetable, bamboo shoot, mushroom, medicinal herbs and souvenirs…there are chances to get intact and taking photos. Later you will follow the footsteps uphill to the top of Ham Rong Mountain for over viewing beautiful scenery of the town and surrounding area, paying visit to an orchard garden and a mini museum which tells you a lot about ethnic minority people living in Sa Pa and the northwest region.
After Lunch, transfer 14km to the center of Ta Phin valley, then you will enjoy an easy walk following village path, paying visit to some H’mong hamlets scattering from the bottom of the valley to higher mountain slopes. From high elevation, great view of the valley stretching under your foot. Continue your walk to the Red Zao village in which you will meet groups of women making handicrafts includes embroidered clothes, handbags… Transfer back to Sa Pa in late afternoon and the rest hours is at your leisure.

Day 2 (Saturday) Tribal Village Exploration in Muong Hoa Valley
Today you will spend the whole day exploring the spectacular Muong Hoa. A Jeep will take us out of the town, following the only road built on the side of a mountain range, looking down the valley, over viewing magnificent landscapes composed of high mountains, deep valleys, and stream of water winding, waterfalls and terraced rice paddies…Many time, leaving the main road, you will visit tribal villages such as Ta Van of the Zay, Su Pan of the Black H’mong, Ban Ho of the Tay…there are chances for meeting and contacting locals at home and at works. We leave Ban Ho in late afternoon for a drive back to Sapa. Evening is at your leisure.

Day 3 (Sunday) Full day joining the famous Bac Ha Market // Overnight train to Hanoi
Every day always begins very early in Vietnam. Especially on Sunday in Bac Ha. You will be waken up, having Breakfast and check out your hotel early before seven.
Leaving Sapa at 07.00 for a transfer 3 hours down hill to Lao Cai and later uphill to Bac Ha. As you get close to The market, you will see lot of Flower H’mong with their horses loading with selling’s along the way. Arriving at the most crowded time of the market you will join some thousands local tribal peoples such as Flower H’mong, Tay, Zao and Phu La who are in their colorful traditional dresses shoping, talking, enjoying food…The most colorful part is clothes section while the most interesting ones probably the food stalls and animal market. Be noted that the small animals such as chicken, piggy… are sold in narrow ground at the main market place but buffaloes, horses market lies about 3 hundred meters away near the main motor way.
Some hours getting excited with the market activities and festive atmosphere, Lunch will be served in a local restaurant with set menu and you may try H’mong home made corn wine.
Afternoon will be highlighted with a short walk around Ban Pho Village of the Flower H’mong and Tay peoples which includes some small hamlets set amongst lush plump gardens, terraced paddies and mountain back drops for a local breath.
Leaving Bac Ha at about 16.00 and getting to Lao Cai Station at 18.00, you will have a quick shower and enjoy dinner on your own in local restaurant before boarding the night train for Hanoi which arrives early next morning on Monday at about 6:00 am and the trip ends.
Leaving Sapa at 07.00 for a transfer 3 hours down hill to Lao Cai and later uphill to Bac Ha. As you get close to The market, you will see lot of Flower H’mong with their horses loading with selling’s along the way.
