Day 01: Hanoi - Mai Chau 150km.
Drive to Mai Chau, sight seeing en-route. Lunch in Mai Chau, walk around the Mai Chau valley to visit the villages of Thai people with house on stilt, embroidery art and home stay with hill tribe people, enjoy their common life and activities. Stay overnight in Mai Chau.

Day 02: Moc Chau - SonLa - Tuan Giao - Dien Bien Phu - 300km (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner).
Drive to Son La, a stop in Moc Chau with hundreds of giant grass farm for cows...visit the ancient prison in the French war period. Stop for lunch in Tuan Giao. Continue on to Dien Bien, enjoy the wonderful scenery in Pha Din pass. Stat overnight in Dien Bien.

Day 03: Dien Bien Phu - Lai Chau - Tam Duong -200km (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner).
Visit the old battle field in the French colonial period, war museum, Muong Thanh airbase. Drive throughout Lai Chau for Tam Duong, on this day you'll have a chance to see the most beautiful hill tribes in Northern Vietnam such as H'Mong, Black Thai, Black Dzao, Pazi... Stay overnight in Tam Duong.

Day 04: Tam Duong - SaPa (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner).
3-hour trek to hill tribe villages around Tam Duong then drive to Sapa. Check in and lunch. Short walking around Sapa, Dragon Mountain, Sapa valley, Cat Cat stream... Stay overnight in Sapa.

Day 05: SaPa - Bac Ha (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner).
Jeep to Black H'mong village, enjoy the common life of hill tribe people. Back to Sapa and lunch. Drive to Bac Ha, check in and overnight in Bac Ha.

Day 2: Hanoi City tour -Lao Cai (B,L,D)

 Half-day tour of Vietnam’s capital city, including Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum and traditional stilt house, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, and the revered One-Pillar Pagoda. Pay visits to typical Vietnamese places of worship. Just before lunch, tour Vietnam’s first university, the thousand-year-old Temple of Literature. In the afternoon visit to the Ethnology Museum and then time for you to test the bike with assist of our mechanic to make sure you have comfortable and good bike for the big journey. Day 3: Lao Cai - Bac Ha (B,L,D)

Day 4: Bac Ha - Can Cau - Bac Ha (B,L,D)

 After breakfast, transfer up to Can Cau to visit the market of String H’mong people ( Sartuday only). After market and some shopping, hop on your bike for down hill riding from Can Cau to Ba Ha with stop to visit the Castle of King H’mong near Bac Ha. Lunch will be at the hotel. Afternoon, an easy hike up to the Hmong village and the school for Ethnic Minorities groups in and around Bac Ha.
Day 5: Bac Ha - Lao Cai - Sapa (B,L,D)

 An easy morning to visit Bac Ha market( Sunday only), one of the biggest market of Ethnic Minority people in Northern Vietnam take place every Sunday. Lunch at the hotel or local restaurant. Afternoon, we get on our bikes again for cycling downhill to Bao Nhai for a boat trip to Coc Ly (3 hours). Drive up to Sapa and check in hotel upon on arrival in Sapa. Dinner at local restaurant and over night at the hotel in Sapa.
Day 6: Sapa (B,L,D)

Day 7: Sapa - Tam Duong (B,L,D)

 Strolling through the market early in the morning in Sapa, where you will meet many different ethnic minority communities such as Black H’Mong, Red Dzao, Dzay or even Xa Pho. After the market, you will drive up to Heaven Gate and start riding down hill through most spectacular road to Tam Duong with stops to visit villages of different Ethnic Minorities en route. Arrive in Tam Duong in late afternoon. Free time after check-in until dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 8: Tam Duong - Lai Chau (B,L,D)

 Depart Tam Duong in the morning and follow a remote road, we bike along the river to the Chinese frontier. You will visit small Red Dzao, Black Dzao, Man (Khmer), Black H'mong and Ha Nhi villages. Picnic lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Lai Chau.
Day 9: Lai Chau - Son La (B,L,D)

 Today is sure to be one of the highlights and most challenges of the trip as we will travel along one of the most beautiful roads in Vietnam. Cross many mountain passes, including Pha Din—a famous Indochina War site. Drive up on the top of the mountains and cycle down to the other side of mountain rages. We’ll also have a chance for a refreshing swim in the Black River and a stroll through the meadows of Kh'Mu village. Arrive in Son La at the end of the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Son La - Mai Chau (B,L,D)

 Morning: after breakfast, you will leave Son La for Mai Chau, the road mostly going down hill. Stop en route to take an easy hike to Co Tang village to visit Black H’Mong group. Lunch en route and from here, start to cycle 35 km through a pristine forest preserve along the road. Arrive Mai Chau in late afternoon. Dinner and over night at Thai Bungalow house.
Day 11: Mai Chau (B,L,D)

Day 13: Hanoi - Hai Phong (B,L,D)

 Morning, we’ll leave Hanoi and cycle along the top of dike road, rice field and villages of the Red River Delta to Bat Trang ceramic village. This is a village where we can visit to the most famous artist and might have a chance to paint on some productions. Shopping is easy and recommended here, if it is heavy for your hand luggage, shipping is possible. Continue to one of the most beautiful ancient Temple located right on the bank of Red River. Picnic lunch in the garden of the Temple. Afternoon, we will follow the dike again to Hai Phong city. Arrive Hai Phong and check in hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Hai Phong.
Day 14: Hai Phong - Ha Long kayaking (B,L,D)

 Morning after breakfast, we leave Hai Phong for Halong Bay on our bike, crossing 01 ferry boat and arrive around noon. We will leave our bikes behind and board a traditional wooden junk and begin an exploration of magical Halong Bay, one of Southeast Asia’s premier tourist destinations. An excellent, fresh seafood lunch will be served on the boat while cruising to the first point, where is a floating fishermen village. We will have safety instructions before starting with our kayaks, paddling for 2,5 hours through the most dramatically limestone formation, a giant cave, beaches and hidden lagoons. Relax and swim on a small beautiful beach upon on arrival. Dinner and overnight on a comfortable and charming junk.
Day 15: Halong - Kayaking - Hanoi (B,L)

Day 1. Arrival Hanoi (D)

Day 2. Hanoi City Tour (B/L)
The colonial capital city Hanoi is a unique Asian city with tree-lined boulevards, French colonial architecture, peaceful lakes and oriental pagodas and temples. This full day tour takes you around Hanoi's most interesting sights, including the Ho Chi Minh Complex: Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and his Stilt House, Presidential Palace and the One Pillar Pagoda nearby, and the Old Quarter also known as the 36 streets and guilds. Also on the tour - the Lake of the Restored Sword and Ngoc Son Temple, the Temple of Literature, peaceful West Lake with lovers street Thanh Nien, the sedate Tran Quoc Pagoda and Quan Thanh Temple and one of the city's museums, either the History Museum or the Ethnology Museum.
Day 3. Hanoi - Halong Bay on Deluxe Junk (B/L/D)
This morning we will depart Hanoi at 8:30 a.m. for a four-hour drive through the Red River Delta to Ha Long City. Upon arrival, we transfer to our boat for a cruise of the crystalline emerald waters of Halong Bay , giving us the chance to take in the stunning scenery of this UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site. While on board we will be served a sumptuous fresh, local seafood lunch followed by a swim. We will also have the chance to explore some of the limestone caves in this area.
We pick you up at your hotel lobby, and we will travel from Hanoi to Halong Bay. Welcome on junk. Seafood lunch on boat. Cruising around, visit to Thien Cung multiform stalactites & stalagmites, Wooden head cave, Tuanchau cave, dog island, Dinh huong island, Cach Buom island, rooster fighting island. Day 4. Halong Bay - Hanoi- Laocai by night train (B/D)
Enjoy breakfast on board. Cruise around Bai Tu Long bay, passing by Bai Tho Mountain. Lunch. Sail back to harbor where our car will be waiting to transfer us back to Hanoi . In the evening, you take night train to Lao Cai. The Victoria Express departure at 21.55-06.00.Overnight on train.
Day 5. Lao Cai - Sapa (B)
The train arrives at the Lao Cai train station at approximately 6:00am. There will be a vehicle waiting to transfer us to Sapa. The drive to Sapa is only 33 km but it takes around 1.5 hours. Once at Sapa, we will check into Victoria hotel (Early check-in subject to availabilty) and have breakfast at the Ta Van Restaurant of Victoria Hotel and then enjoy a free morning to explore around town. Meet your guide in the hotel lobby at 2 pm for a walking tour to the hilltribe villages of Cat Cat, home to the H'mong ethnic minority peoples. As you walk to the villages nestled in the valley below Sapa, you will meet some of the local minority people on their way to and from Sapa. In the village you have the opportunity to share cultural experiences with the families that live in the area. Overnight in Victoria Sapa hotel.
Day 6. Sapa Walking (B/L)
Following breakfast at we explore the Sapa daily market and then set out on our 3-4 hour trek that will take us along buffalo paths and trails and through several hilltribe villages of Lao Chai and Tavan, home to H'mong, and Dzay people. This is an absolutely spectacular walk through stunning scenery inhabited by some of the friendliest people you can meet. Stop for a picnic lunch on the way at a family in Ta Van village. Overnight in Victoria Sapa hotel.
Day 7. Sapa - Lao Cai for night train to Hanoi (B/L)
This morning we climb up to Ham Rong Mountain , which gives you a great panoramic view over Sapa and its surrounding areas, and you can explore two orchid gardens and other flowers gardens. After hotel check-out, we travel to Ta Phin valley, where the Red Dao and H'mong live. Transfer to Lao Cai station for Victoria Express back to Hanoi departure at 21.05-06.00. Overnight at Victoria Express. Overnight on train.
Day 8. Departure Hanoi
Early arrive in Hanoi station at around 6:00 am. Pick up and transfer to Hanoi airport for your onward flight. End of tour.

Itinerary  
Day 1 // Hanoi // Mai Chau
Departing from Hanoi, we cross the western edge of the Red River Delta with lively scenery of the countryside. After 70 km, the road gradually ascends uphill through the region of the Muong ethnic and suddenly it goes up steep mountains and view of the lush valley opens wider and wider. We stop for admiring the marvelous panorama scenery before descending to the valley and arrive in a large village of the Thai ethnic group. It is well organized and prosperous village as many others in the region with wooden houses on stilts standing in lines. All the houses are spacious with palm leaf roof and bamboo slat floor, the kitchen is set at one end of the house.
Although living in the mountainous region, The Thai people always choose the low land with permanent sources of water for rice intensive farming. Thai women are famous for their weaving and embroidering skill to make brocade.
We spent the rest of the day walking and exploring villages, meeting local doing their everyday’ works and experiencing wonderful hospitality of the Thai people.
Most interesting of all is the overnight stay in a villager's house, attending the traditional dance performed by the Thai people, a truly remarkable and unforgettable event.

Day 2 // Mai Chau // Suoi Lon      
Today you will explore an untouched area. After Breakfast, you will leave Ban Lac of the Thai for a short drive for about half an hour. The trek takes about 4 hours up and down hill and then pass through a prosperous valley inhabited by Thai and H’mong ethnic. In Hang Kia and Cun Pheo villages you have chances to visit H’mong families those just started to settle for few years after practicing slash and burn agriculture for generations. Later the path gradually getting to the lower land as you approach to the Da River. Here, boarding a boat and cruise upstream the river for over 3 hours to explore wild life and meet Muong people who earn a living by fishing around this area of the Reservoir. Arriving at Suoi Lon Village of the Muong in the afternoon, you will join the local’s work for your experience of local life. Home stay in the village.       • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included

Day 3 // Suoi Lon // Bac Yen // Thu Cuc
Enjoy a morning short walk out of the Mount village and our jeep and driver will pick us up for a two hours transfer through beautiful area with rich farmland covered by tea plantations, fancy some side visit to ethnic villages along the way and seeing tea processing. We have long break at noon in a little pretty town Ta Sua, a local center where we have Lunch and walk around the market which is colorful with local farming produces as will as minority handicrafts. Later we take a walk for about 5 km along a track passing villages of Thai and Muong, tea farms, fantastic scenery. Visiting some local homes and tasting local wine which is fermented in pottery jar.
Arriving in Thu Cuc where we stay overnight in another Muong Village.

Day 4 // Thu Cuc // Nghia Lo  
The terrain changes today as we drive to Nghia Lo, Starting from Thu Cuc, featuring with fertile hilly area covered with green tea plantations, the mountains get higher and higher. Along the way you can see thick forests cover high mountains. Spending about 4 hours walking through a narrow and long valley, we meet three tribal setting their villages in different ways which reveal their traditional customs and living style: The Thai occupy the low land almost at bottom of valleys, near river or streams from which they build up water wheels for transfer water to rice paddies on which they farm wet rice intensively. The H’mong settle at the highest elevation, grow corn and dry rice on the burn-over land and the Zao live in the middle practice both methods of farming and it is easily to realize that they learn a lot of farming technique from the Thai.
Arriving in Nghia Lo, a pretty mountainous town, we spend the remaining hours of the day wandering the town including the market area.

Day 5 // Nghia Lo // Tu Le
It is not far from Nghia Lo to Tu Le. The road ride today takes only 2 hours so we have a lot of time exploring the area for real mountainous life of the local ethnic minority people. Fancy a four hour trekking along a trail which connect villages to villages, meeting different tribal people such as White Thai, Black Zao, Red H’mong…who seem very surprise, staring at you for the first moment and turn out very friendly and inviting you to their homes in which you will be hosted with tea or home made wine.
We enjoy another home staying in a large Thai village, which offers fantastic hours for your culture discovery.

Day 6 // Tu Le // Mu Cang Chai // Than Uyen
We are heading uphill to Hoang Lien Son range of mountains, the roof of Indochina, for our discovery from the back side of this famous area. The Northeast of this range, consider the front side with Sa Pa has been known and become popular tourist destination for almost 2 decades but the back side is staying unknown to many, even local travelers talking of the area which we are going today as of another world.
The first tip of the day is the morning market at the center of Tu Le. Tribal peoples from remotest villages in their traditional costumes which are very different from one another go to market with cheerful faces…which makes you surprise!
Leaving the market for a short drive, you will find yourselves in the magnificent area of this unspoiled area, Kau Pha. From the foot of this mountain pass, we challenge a 9 km trek through thick jungle up to the top of the pass which is at 1,800m above sea level. Enjoy fresh air and great view.
After Lunch in Mu Cang Chai town, we continue our drive uphill which offers even more spectacular scenery, far away from what you expect!
Arriving in Than Uyen town late in the afternoon, check in and relax in the only local guesthouse.

Day 7 // Than Uyen // Binh Lu // Sapa
We slowly drive along the foot of Fansipan, admiring its magnificence and beauty from the west side which is often clearer in comparison with that from Sa Pa at the east side. Today you will meet people from Lu minority whose population is just about 5000. Some old Lu men said that their ancestors came to settle in the region from Laos many years ago and they adopted rice farming style of the Thai while maintaining their traditional culture which reveals on women’s clothes and jewelry and still keep dying their teeth black.
The 60 km drive from Binh Lu to Sa Pa offers the most spectacular scenery in Vietnam for sure.

Day 8 // Sapa villages explore // Overnight train back to Hanoi
Most other tourists come from Hanoi will be anxious for trips to explore tribal villages around Sapa town but not you! Because these trips can not compare with what you had experienced so far. So the plan today is set open for your flexibility.
However we suggest a morning trip to visit Lao Chai and Ta Van to admire scenery of Muong Hoa Valley, the most beautiful one from the east side of Fansipan. Car and guide will pick you up at hotel and drive 12 km to the center of the valley where you will enjoy an easy walk along the river, paying visit to Black H’mong and Zay villages for about 3 hours. Drive back to hotel and free to relax.
Late afternoon, you will pick up for a road transfer downhill to Lao Cai station for taking the overnight train to Hanoi, which arrives early next morning. Pick up and transfer to your hotel in Hanoi.
